SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS LEARN OF THE BENEFITS OF DESIGN
Design is a tool of many possibilities for small businesses, mainly because of its impact on the company and its products. Yet this isn’t very clear for most entrepreneurs in Brazil. To reverse this scenario, the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (SEBRAE) called on DUCO to develop awareness talks about the use of Design and its benefits to small businesses. The challenge was to create material for a diverse range of business sectors not traditionally associated with design, from Agribusiness to Oil.
20 SECTORS • 19 CITIES ACROSS BRAZIL • 600 ATTENDEES
Besides developing the theoretical content of the talks, customised for each sector, we also collected more than 100 case studies about the use of Design to improve SMEs performance. The 20 sectors addressed were: Viticulture; E-commerce; Construction; Oil, Gas and Energy Chain; Fashion Retail; Furniture; Auto Parts Trade; Tourism; Health; Fitness; Bars and Restaurants; Aquaculture; Floriculture; Fruticulture, Horticulture; Beekeeping; Organic Products; Coffee; Agribusiness Industries, and Ornamental Stones.
During the project, our team travelled throughout Brazil testing the speeches’ methodology, validating the speech guides and ensuring the outcome would be suitable for Brazilian
The talks are now being multiplied across the country by SEBRAE’s independent consultants. The final solution made it easier for entrepreneurs to understand what is, and how Design can be used to add value to their business, boosting the economy by promoting design services but also, and mainly, by the impact that new projects can have on business.
